Welcome to the town of Brightwood! The 46218 area code was voted in June 2007 as "The Most Dangerous Location in Indiana." That's probably an exaggeration -- as a resident of that area for several months, I haven't been killed even once, and everyone I'm aware of who's left there has done so in a truck, not an ambulance. This roughly 700-square-foot bungalow is rumored to have actual windows underneath all that plywood. While there are a decent number of local burglars who will take just about anything, it's more likely the owner is just afraid of people seeing exactly how little rehabbing has actually gone on inside. The electricity is physically hooked up, which could save several weeks of phoning around and pleading with less-than-enthusiastic public officals, or dealing with the fact that there is exactly one inspector in Indianapolis capable of approving an electrical hookup, and he likes his vacations. I speak from the experience of having had no power for a period... in November. There is aluminum siding on approximately 2_1/2 sides, and it appears to be in decent shape. The roof appears decent, but then again, I've never been inside. A guy bought this place around October of 2006 (roughly the same time I bought mine)... I've seen him exactly twice since then, and no appreciable improvements to the property. Ratings: Property's Condition:
